About Azula
An urban oasis of fine dining and luxury, the newly launched Azula is a restaurant and high energy bar that is all set to take its diners on a gastronomical journey of senses. The word Azula is derived from the Spanish, Portuguese & Galican term “Azul”, meaning “blue”. Located in New Friends Colony, the contemporary all-day dining space offers a widespread Pan-Asian menu with a Latin influence.
Azula has been meticulously curated with the sole aim to provide its patrons with an unforgettable experience at any time of the day, be it on a cosy afternoon or in the wee hours of the night. The restaurant prides itself on its signature crave-able tapas-style plates paired with modern-age cocktails and riveting music that perfectly synergises the ambience of the space.
Azula is spread across 2 floors with an area of about 2500 sq. ft each. The bespoke interiors and the ambience exude finesse and comfort and are beautifully lit up full customizable smart lights for every mood and occasion. One of the key elements at the space is its bar counter top; it draws attention with its vertical led-lit gold bar, specially sourced from Jodhpur and made out of live edge wood.
About the Partners
Manu Chadha – Founder & Partner
A famous chef once said “get the basics right, the rest will follow”. Manu Chadha had his sights set on the hospitality industry and followed his heart with a Masters in Hospitality & Marketing at the Southern New Hampshire University USA. He worked with the Marriott Group of hotels, USA for over 6 years in Food & Beverage as Director Restaurants, garnering valuable international hospitality experience in Atlanta.
He might have grown wings but deep down he is a Delhi lad. He returned to India in a heartbeat, excited by the new wave of renaissance that was transforming Delhi from capital city to India’s culinary capital. His restless energy and machine-gun conversational style combined with razor-sharp skills as a marketing strategist saw him handling many coveted assignments as a consultant for several restaurants, lounge bars and night clubs across India. His progressive thinking has made him don many hats. He has handled several big budget 360° marketing campaigns successfully. He has since, pushed it up several notches and worked as CEO & MD for “My World India” an International Company involved in direct marketing for 4 years.
He is a self-professed aficionado of food, an art collector, a travel enthusiast that has given him a better understanding of the evolving new trends in the global F & B Industry. A dream of a lifetime should not take a lifetime to plan. So he is finally taking the plunge and putting his entrepreneurial and culinary skills to the test by launching his eponymous restaurant AZULA, where he hopes to give patrons an immersive dining experience, also where the food will be real and honest!
Nisha Kakumanu Chadha – Founder & Partner
Nisha realised her passion for the food service industry at a very young age and followed her dream by joining the welcome group hospitality administration programmer in Manipal for her bachelor degree and then her masters degree from southern New Hampshire university in Manchester.
Nisha has a unique perspective of the hotel and restaurant industry having worked both front of the house – managed a fine dining restaurant, 24 hour room service, sports bar, coffee shop, piano bar, all day dining restaurant and back of the house – the kitchen in bakery. She had worked both domestically in India with the Sheraton hotels and internationally in the United States with the Marriott marquis, the Marriott and renaissance hotels for over 10 years, on returning to India she consulted for various homegrown restaurants and bars in chennai, bangalore and delhi.
She is extremely passionate about food, absolutely loves to cook and considers herself a food connoisseur of sorts, an avid reader, travel and culture enthusiast, a lover of mixology and has a penchant for design. She is thrilled that she has been finally able to indulge in all that she loves to create Azula, that her passion project has finally come to fruition.
